What is a Live Tour?
Live tours are a series of Tournaments that take place in Casino’s all over the world. Generally they focus on a specific part of the world.
The WSOP, World Series of Poker, which is the one that has the Main Event that you often see on ESPN is a Live Tour.
Usually these tours have lots of smaller tourneys and many satellites to get into them available so you can get in cheaper.
These are often where you earn the most money and prestige or glory as a poker player. But they at the same time are not for the faint of heart or the average new player.
They require hours upon hours of playing and the larger events require many days of playing over the course of sometimes up to two weeks.
Other then money and prestige these offer a few other things to poker players. They often have very well laid out blind structures, allowing you to play with out being forced to act because of your stack compared to blinds. They bring in some of the best players in the world, if you ever wanted to play against your favorite pro these often give you that chance. Winning the larger events can get your sponsorship deals with company’s and sites which will give you buy-in money for other tourneys, and money to play on their online poker site.
The downsides:
Often filled with very tough competition
Usually cost is very high compared to online play
Very long hours
Depending on location, have to be 21 to enter
Most take place only once a year
